The Sun Sets

Oh, for Luna's sake...

"I hate to interrupt," said Dodger. "But Gearick? What exactly did you do to the griffon?"

"I may have just heard him."

Bells gives Dodger a look. "If I understand this place correctly, then you must not think of anything you do not want to be. Think only of what you want to happen, or thing you do not want to happen will happen." She says, talking strangely at some parts while trying to figure out to phrase it with the words she knew.

Dodger tried to follow that grammar.

"So then clearly I didn't hear that, because I cannot hear things that do not exist."

Storm grinned.

"So try not to think about the griffin that doesn't exist."

Dodger:
And right on cue, you hear it again. "Murderers... thieves..." It again does not sound angry, but sad and hopeless.

"Well I'm thinking of leaving this place and returning to where I came from."

Bells gets an idea. Once again clearing her mind of everything else, she thinks about a portal in front of her, like the one that led them into this void, that leads back out through the same portal.

You barely have to think for a moment, and the portal is there, right in front of you. It occurs to you that it might have always been there, but you just couldn't see it. Either way, you see it now- back of the picture frame and all.

"Oh, thank Luna," said Dodger, jumping through the portal.

"I will go through the poor-tall last, because it may go away when I go through." With that, Bells thinks holds out her hoof, and thinks of a mouse hanging from its tail in front of the portal to lure out Snuggles.

Storm  checks his gear(and Koli) are stowed away, and floats through the portal.

Storm, Dodger:
A quick flash and a short sense of vertigo later and you are back on the definably solid ground of Figure Head's home. It appears exactly as you left it, minus one bat pony. A few moments later, Bells' cat follows you out.

Bells:
Snuggles looks at the mouse toy, then at you, and his voice hits your thoughts like a wave of meh. "If we're leaving you could just say so." He jumps through the portal without hesitation. You are left alone with Gearick.

"Great a way out."
Kanen attempts to walk through the portal as well.

With Figure Head confirmed dead, there was no reason for Scales to hang around, especially while the building was under siege. The detective needed to get out of the building, but the ground floor could be dangerous, with the zombies moving about. Night Scales leaves the room, first checking where the zombies outside the room to see which way to go...

Kanen:
You jump "into" the portal.

Scales:
Heading back out the door you came in, he pursuing pegasus is just around the corner to the right, within reaching distance. He doesn't say anything this time, simply lunging at you again, this time using his wings to get a high jump on you. Before you can react to it, you are surprised by the sudden coughing and sputtering from the deer on your back. Kanen finally resumes consciousness, just in time for the Pegasus to come crashing down on both of you.

Storm, Dodger:
You hear a loud "thump" from somewhere upsatirs.

Ok, I have to confess, I completely forgot how Kanen was supposed to be freed from the void. I think it had somthing to do with defeating the alicorn. He wasn't originally supposed to be able to leave through the portal, but you've gone through enough ill-defined puzzles already.

Anyway, the Pegasus has a weak hold on the both of you, so Scales should be able to roll athletics/acrobatics to extricate herself. Kanen, not so much without assistance.

Once Gearick is through, Bells hops through the portal with the medicine in her hoof, though not in time to hear the thump. "It is time to cure the town now, is it not?"

Bells:
Unfortunately, when you exit the portal and find yourself in the dining room with the others, you find your hooves empty. In fact, you aren't even sure why you expected to be carrying something- you certainly can't remember what it might have been.

Bells looks at her empty hoof. "...odd. Maybe that grey place would be a good place to keep the infected until we can find a cure?"

"Did you all hear that? We might want to head to the second floor." Storm says, referring to the thump.

"Way ahead of you," said Dodger, running upstairs.

Dodger (and anyone coming along):
Just outside the dining room, at the doorway leading to the stairs, there is a mare laying on the floor. She appears to be one of the townsponies, no doubt infected, but she isn't moving or gigging like the rest. She just lays there, looking petrified from fright as she stares at nothing, mouth agape in silent terror.

Storm follows Dodger. When he says the mare he floats over to checks on her.
